About

Hi! Im Lucy, the artist
behind BloomfieldPortraits who has specialized in portraiture the past 15 years realized in oil painting, charcoal, digital & photography.
My Origin Story
As a kid growing up in NYC, I loved learning about the history, culture and art of people from past civilizations. I wanted to travel the world looking for ancient artifacts. Then came freshman year of high school and I joined the art academy, taught by an incredible artist who trained us in classical fine art mediums like charcoal drawing and oil painting. By senior year I had won some regional art competitions and was interning at the Met. During this time the TV show America's Next Top Model started to air on tv and I just remember being mesmerized by the photoshoot production scenes. I loved the idea of being able to build a set and create images so beautiful, powerful and emotional. Even more splendid I can do it with two mediums! Apply paint on a surface to make a painting or I can use light to capture an image on a camera and print it on surface. In college, I studied for an art degree to learn and explore as much as I can for both mediums. Since then I worked on commission paintings and photography assignments. Then one day while on a painting session of flowers blooming across a field, I thought, I think we are all like flowers, carrying something beautiful inside of us ready to bloom. I would love to have a space where a portrait session is about honoring the season you are in. A place where presence unfolds into art.
